2 . Scope of this notice

This notice explains what personal data we collect through our public website (landing page) and newsletter sign-up, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and PECR.

3 . Personal data we collect

We collect only one data element:

We do not collect names, phone numbers, cookies for profiling, or other personal identifiers.

4 . How we collect your data

  • Directly from you – when you enter your email address and click “Sign up” or a similar consent button.
    We do not obtain personal data from any third parties.

5 . Lawful basis for processing

Our legal ground is consent under Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR.
If you later become a customer, we may rely on PECR’s “soft opt-in” to send marketing about similar services, provided you can opt out at any time.

6 . How we use your email address

  1. Service updates & newsletters – periodic product announcements.

  2. Feedback & surveys – invitations to help us improve.

  3. Transactional messages – to confirm subscription, changes to this policy or our Terms.

We never sell or rent your email address, nor use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

7 . Sharing and disclosure

Your email address is accessible only to staff who need it to perform the tasks above. We do not disclose it to third parties except:

  • Service providers (e.g., an email-delivery platform) under written contracts that require UK GDPR compliance;

  • Legal reasons – where we are compelled by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

8 . International transfers

Where our email platform or another processor is located outside the UK, we rely on the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU SCCs approved by the ICO.

9 . Data security

We store emails in an encrypted database, enforce TLS in transit, operate role-based access controls and review logs regularly. These measures follow the ICO’s guidance to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of personal data.

10 . Retention

We retain your email until the earliest of:

  • you click “unsubscribe” in any message;

  • you email us at info@guidemybreak.com to withdraw consent; or

  • two years of inactivity, after which we securely delete or anonymise it.

Retention decisions are documented in line with ICO best practice.

11 . Your data-protection rights

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent (where consent is the basis) under the UK GDPR.

We may update this notice to reflect changes in law or our practices. Material changes will be sign-posted on the site and emailed to subscribers. Continued use of the site after the “Effective date” below constitutes acceptance.
